For decades we have been hearing announcements about the completion of the construction of Corridor Vc. This year, new kilometers were built, and there is also a new promise: by the end of next year, we will have over 50 kilometers of highway. The northern part of Corridor Vc is being worked on at full speed.
A technical inspection of the Poprikusa-Nemila section and part of the Nemila-Vranduk section is underway. It is the last step to make 11 kilometers of Corridor Vc available for driving. Next month, instead of driving through the Bosna canyon, drivers will drive on a modern highway.
Driving on the main road will be a thing of the past on the Poprikusa-Nemila section. It is very important for drivers, and in this part the construction of the Bosna tunnel was the most demanding. It is 3.6 kilometers long.
It is an extremely demanding section. In one part, a part of the Bosna riverbed had to be regulated. Numerous households have been displaced. It is the most difficult for the residents of Koprivna, whose settlement has become a real construction site as a result of the construction. All settlements that gravitate along Corridor Vc are eagerly awaiting the end of the works. In Nemila, they are delighted with the appearance of the road, but they regret that there is no exclusion for their settlement.
“This is a difficult section, but there is also a human factor. This means a lot… something nice that happened. The only thing that should have been included was for Nemila,” said the local.
The part connecting Nemila with Zenica is also under construction. The 3,360-meter long Ponirak-Vraca section, i.e. the Zenica tunnel, has already been completed. By the end of 2026, they announce from Autocest, the entire northern part of the Corridor will be open to traffic.
“The weather conditions have slowed down the most, but so far so good. The significance is great. The road will be shortened. Zenica-Nemila, so it will be reduced by half. If now it is 20 minutes, now we will be there in 10”, said the local.
FBiH highways:
“On the Nemila – Vranduk section, the remaining part of the works is planned for completion in 2026. The construction of the T2 (Stara Nemila) tunnel, 1,470 meters long, is underway. On the Vranduk – Ponirak section, 5.3 km long, work is also being carried out intensively, while the Ponirak – Vraca section, i.e. the Zenica tunnel, about 3,360 meters long, has already been completed.”
And in January, the breaking of the imposing Crni Vrh tunnel near Tešnj is announced. From Highways, they say that six construction sites are active in the northern part of Corridor Vc, and that by the end of 2026, we will have over 50 kilometers of highway.
“It will be very good, great. Many deadlines have been broken, I don’t know what else it is. The field may simply not be in order, there is machinery, but it is going slowly,” said the local.
By the end of the year, the works on the Putnikovo Brdo-Medakovo section, about 8.5 kilometers long, will be completed. This section is extremely important since it connects to the Doboj bypass. At the beginning of the year, the Highways of Republika Srpska announced that they would finish the works at the end of the year. Now there is no such announcement. They state that maximum efforts are being made during construction. But the real challenge on Corridor Vc is yet to come. The Prenj tunnel is the biggest challenge, and the work has not started yet. In the southern part of the Corridor, the Kvanj tunnel is breaking through. Although Autocest optimistically announces that Corridor Vc will be fully completed in 2030, judging by the deadlines that have been missed so far, it is unlikely that this will be the case, writes N1 BiH.
