The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports ZDK and a representative of Caritas Switzerland, in the presence of the municipal mayor, made a final visit to the school facilities included in the “Energy Efficiency of Schools” project in the municipality of Tešanj. During the visit, completed works were presented and continued investment in school infrastructure was discussed.
As part of the project, part of the roof was replaced at the Elementary School “Abdulvehab Ilhamija” Kalošević: a new roof structure was constructed, thermal insulation and sheet metal covering were installed. In the district school “Huso Hodžić” in Raduša, part of the roof was reconstructed, the carpentry was replaced, the facade was repaired and a heat pump was installed, which improved the energy parameters of the buildings.
Representatives of the ZDK Government and the Ministry of Education emphasized the importance of similar investments for the safety and working conditions of students and teaching staff, and pointed out that such projects are in line with the canton’s strategic determination for the energy renovation of public buildings. As stated, Caritas Switzerland is a project partner and has provided part of the technical and financial support.
The municipality of Tešanj supported the implementation of the works through logistical and organizational assistance, and the local administration announced the continuation of applications for similar projects in order to include other schools in the municipality. There are nine elementary schools operating in the Tešnja area, so the priorities in the coming period will be determined according to the condition of the facilities and the needs of the students.
The implementation of these procedures is expected to reduce energy consumption, improve the microclimate in classrooms and increase the safety of school facilities, which contributes to better education and working conditions for teaching staff. Representatives of the involved institutions announced further activities and possible new phases of the project in cooperation with local communities.
