At the 45th session of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Assembly of the ninth convocation, held on October 22, 2025. eight points of the previously established agenda were considered.
As part of the first point, the Cantonal Assembly accepted the Draft Law on Preschool Education, which is sent to all municipalities and cities of the Zenica-Doboj Canton for public discussion for 60 days.
In the following, the Decision on amendments and additions to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of Zenica-Doboj Canton was adopted, which will enable the implementation of the initiative to sing the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the beginning of the sessions of the Assembly of Zenica-Doboj Canton.
Within the third point, the Assembly passed the Decision on the establishment of a Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas, which will include the management of the protected natural areas declared so far – the Tajan Nature Monument and the Zvijezda Mountain Protected Area. The public institution will carry out the activity of protection, maintenance and promotion of protected areas and other protected natural values with the aim of protecting and preserving the originality of nature, ensuring the smooth development of natural processes and sustainable use of natural resources, and supervision over the implementation of conditions and protection measures in the area it manages, all with the aim of ensuring the rational and sustainable use of natural resources.
At today’s session, the Assembly passed the Decision on the adoption of the Program for the Development of Protection and Rescue from Natural and Other Disasters of the Zenica-Doboj Canton for the period 2025-2031. year. This Development Program will ensure a continuous planning process for the development of a comprehensive system of protection and rescue in the area of the Canton, and all cantonal ministries, cantonal administrations and cities/municipalities in the Zenica-Doboj Canton participated in the drafting of the Development Program, apart from the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection as the holder of the draft.
Within the fifth point, a Decision was made on changes to the Decision on credit indebtedness and acceptance of grant funds from the Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau/German Development Bank-KfW through the revolving fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Adoption of these changes was necessary due to differences between unrealistic budget projections in relation to current market conditions, which were made on the basis of estimated values and audits more than three years ago. Today, the estimated values of the works contained in those audits are outdated and do not reflect the real situation on the market, which further complicates the implementation process, because inflation, the rise in the price of construction materials and the rise in labor costs have significantly increased the total costs, which requires additional adjustment and rationalization of funds.
Within the last three items of the agenda, the Assembly considered the reports of the judicial institutions in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, and in its conclusion took note of the Report on the work of the Cantonal Court in Zenica for the year 2024, and then accepted with the conclusions, the Report on the work of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Zenica-Doboj Canton for the year 2024 and the Report on the work of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Zenica for the period from 01.01.2024. until 31.12.2024. year.
