China has confirmed that it will buy 200 Boeing aircraft and cooperate with the United States on reducing tariffs, officially announcing the details of the agreement reached during last week’s visit of US President Donald Trump to Beijing.

The agreement ends an almost ten-year unofficial ban on the sale of Boeing aircraft to China, writes CNN.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that the US and China are negotiating to extend the trade truce that expires in November, and that they will discuss a framework for mutual reduction of tariffs on goods worth about 30 billion dollars.

The announcements are in line with expectations expressed by Trump administration officials last Friday, following a two-day summit between Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

China has also said it will work with the US to expand two-way trade in agricultural products.

In addition, ensuring the stability of the supply of rare earth metals in global supply chains was also announced, although no specific steps were outlined as to how this is planned to be achieved.
