The New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-104 last night in the second game of the NBA Finals on the road and took a 2-0 lead in the series with four wins.
Jalen Brunson hit a free throw with 9.5 seconds left after a loose ball by Victor Wembanyamaand then it is Wembanyama missed the shot for San Antonio at the end.
Karl-Anthony Towns he scored 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Brunson and Mikal Bridges scored 20 each for the Knicks.
This is the 13th straight win for the Knicks, which is second longest streak of any team in NBA playoff history.
The Knicks are now just the third team to win the first two games of the Finals on the road, joining Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls in 1993, Hakeem Olajuwon’s Houston Rockets in 1995.
Both teams won championships, the Bulls needed six games to knock off the Phoenix Suns and the Rockets went home after winning those first two games in Orlando and sweeping the Magic.
The Knicks, chasing their first title since 1973, are in position to join them.
Wembanyama led the Spurs with 29 pointsnine rebounds and four blocks and De’Aaron Fox added 20 steals.

The Spurs trailed by 14 points (97-83) midway through the fourth quarter, then tied the game in the next three minutes (97-97) and clawed their way back into the lead – scoring the next 14 points to tie the game. Wembanyam’s 3-pointer with 57 seconds left gave the Spurs their first lead of the second half, 104-102. Brunson responded with a basket to tie the game with 39.3 seconds left.
After that, Wembanyama missed a long shot and OG Anunoby grabbed the ball for New York with 30 seconds left. Then Brunson was fouled and he made a free throw for 105-104. Seven and a half seconds before the end of the game, Fox received a pass and then set up Wembanyami for a shot that bounced off the rim.
The series now moves to New York for Game 3 at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
