The Austrian Federal Office for Crime (BCA), in cooperation with international police forces, smashed the European network of drug smugglers that distributed and supplied Vienna drug.
During the action that lasted for a while, since December 2024. 11 people were arrested – citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, but also Austria.
According to BK, it is estimated that this organized group only has smuggled around the tone for the last year and per cannabis.
Drugs are regular, almost every week, trucks coming from Spain. Namely, the camel was filled in the port of Barcelona, and then drugs over France and Italy transferred to Austria.
However, criminals lost their weekly rhythm when one of the trucks excluded from use during the European Operation “wide”, which is primarily coordinated with France. This logistics “disorder” then led to a disorder in the supply chain, which lasted for several weeks.
The final destination was mostly Vienna, where there were most clients. By the way, the goods would be overroaded in fewer vans, which they deprived it in the apartments, which used as their warehouses.
Criminals even rented cars to pre-check the delivery addresses and thus reduce the risk of police raids.
As it was announced, a typical consignment amounted to about 100 kilograms, and often more, and smaller delivery was almost no. It is estimated that the network had about 40 members and that it was absolutely dominant in the Austrian cannabis market.
With the monitoring of the signal of the mobile phone of one of the arrested, the large internal plantation in Donja Austria has been detected.
The operation was coordinated by the Special Unit “Sahara”, which operates in the Austrian BC, which was established to fight the criminal groups of northern African origin. However, in the end, it turned out that the “Balkan mafia” was the one that is dominant in Austria.
