Traditional boxing event “Sarajevo Fight Night”, ninth in a row, bit will be held on Friday, October 31 at the Sarajevo Youth Center.
The organizer of the event is Kamp Sport Peljto, which this year was joined by “Team Avdić” from Innsbruck, which raises the event to a higher level of international cooperation and quality. The organizers said that the audience can expect top matches, professional production and atmosphere, and the main fight of the evening will be the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-Austrian fighter Edin Avdić, the defending champion in the WBA association, and his challenger, the German David Kerkmann.
President of the BiH Professional Boxing Association, Zaim Numanović, said at today’s press conference that this will be the best boxing event that has been held in BiH so far.
– I would tell all competitors to continue working on their preparation in order to continue successfully promoting our country on the international stage. I believe that we are in a time when the expansion of boxing in Bosnia and Herzegovina has reached its peak and that currently a large number of young boxers in Bosnia and Herzegovina want to assert themselves through professional boxing – said Numanović.
In his address, Edin Avdić pointed out that he is very glad to be “building a bridge” between his native Innsbruck and Sarajevo, and that he got the opportunity to defend the title he won in his native Innsbruck in the main event of BiH.
– This is a dream come true for me. I had hard preparations, I am ready for tomorrow’s match and I expect to win – said Avdic.
Edin Puhalo, also known as “Iron Puki”, will have a fight against Marvin Rufo. In his address, Puhalo wished Edin Avdić to defend the title of the WBA association, progress in the rankings and get a chance to fight for the world title.
– For me, this is in a way an eliminatory fight that can give me the opportunity to fight for the WBA title and I hope that I will eventually get that opportunity. I have prepared well and I hope to win. The organizers really brought top fighters and prepared everything at the highest level – said “Iron Puki”.
In addition to the main fight, amateur fights will be held tomorrow by Aleksandar Veljović and Adis Ajanović, Niko Kruselburger and Emel Kurtović, Emirhan Gynell and Fariz Ganija, and Yasin Bulut and Ahmed Bešić, while professional fights will be held by Ibrahim Grević and Eldar Hodžić, Dragan Dragojević and Kenan Hanjalić, Edhem Hrustić and Benjamin Poturak, Kenan Ćatić and Vuk Micić, and Marvin Ruf and Edin Puhalo.
Edin Avdić was born in Innsbruck and started boxing at the age of 13. Already in 2013, in the first year of his boxing career, he won gold at the Austrian youth championship and was immediately invited to the national team of that country, which was followed by numerous victories, championship titles and international appearances. After more than 150 amateur fights, nine Austrian championship titles and ten years in the Austrian national team, Avdić turned professional in 2021 and has been undefeated ever since, with knockout victories and international titles.
