Leaderska Učnji namnišni čitnik Alternativa, Alice Weidel, provoked a new controversy after the Sunday statement in the German public broadcaster Ard said the Holocaust was used as a tool against her party.
“It is quite disturbing when the Holocaust is politically instrumentalized,” Weidel said, adding that the memory of the Holocaust should rise above “everyday policy”.
AFD currently has another place in surveys before the national elections held on 23. February.
The interview became tense when the Head of the ARD faced Weidel with its obvious eye lift during the talks on the Holocaust, after which the leader of the end right calls educational efforts to maintain the historical implications “boring”.
Weidel denied she raised her eyes, but reiterated the controversial comments, including his claim that the German culture of memory “Culture of Guilt” – a commentary that supported Billionaire Elon Musk at the expensive Halle last month.
Defending his use of the term “Culture of Guilt,” Weidel claimed that Germany’s policy should be guided by non-historic guilt, but with “self-confidence and responsibility for the future.” When they caused her about the connotation of that expression with neo-nation, Weidel was rejecting, saying, “I don’t care where that word comes from.”
Weidelina frustration on this topic was obvious. She described the repeated connection of AFD with the memory of the Holocaust as “boring”, which reflects the continued discomfort of the party to face the Nazi past Germany.
The head also pressed her about the comments she gave in January, when Adolf Hitler called the “Communist” due to his economic policies – a claim that historians convicted as factually incorrect. Weidel rejected it.
