Zlatan Ibrahimović, known for his successful football and business career, is facing one of the biggest business challenges to date.
His large investment in padel centers in Sweden recorded serious financial losses, and estimates say that they amount to several million euros.
Although the popularity of padel skyrocketed, and Zlatan opened a chain of modern Padel Zenter halls in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Uppsala, the market soon became oversaturated.
The number of new courts grew faster than the interest of citizens, so once full halls with long waiting lists turned into empty halls with high maintenance costs.
The decline in the popularity of the sport, expensive membership fees and the excessive number of pitches in Sweden led to the closure of many centers, and Zlatan’s did not go without consequences either.
Today, Sweden is one of the most overcrowded markets for padel, which has put his business in an unenviable situation.
In order to reduce losses and try to save the project, Ibrahimović turns to Italy. The first Padel Center has already opened in Milan, and the success of that center should be an indicator of whether the network will expand to other Italian cities.
Zlatan, who has shown an entrepreneurial spirit throughout his career, is now trying to find a way to reverse the negative trend in one of his most ambitious investments.
