Legendary coach Željko Obradović has resigned from the position of coach of Partizan, the club confirmed this on its official website.
He estimated that it was time for changes and expressed his willingness to leave the bench. Partizan has been struggling with form for weeks, and the difficult period has culminated convincing defeat of Panathinaikos in Athens (91:69). Before that, they defeated the SC Derby, but they experienced it before two heavy defeats – from Asvel and Fenerbahçe.
Obradović took over the club in 2021, returning it to the Euroleague and once again among the European elite. He started his coaching career in Partizan, after which he became one of the most decorated European coaches with nine European championship titles.

Dear Partizan fans,
Four and a half years ago I returned to my beloved club and started living the most beautiful dream together with you. I had a desire and a goal for our Partizan to become part of the Euroleague again, after 10 years, and we all succeeded in that together. The matches of our beloved club have become something more than basketballthanks to you who are most deserving of it. Unfortunately, the moment came when I had to take responsibility for all the bad things that happened this season and submit my irrevocable resignation.
I want to thank all the people who helped our club all these years, the president of the club and all the members of the Board of Directors, all the people from the working community of the club, as well as all the sponsors.
I am very grateful to all the players who have been with us in these four and a half years, the members of my coaching staff (I have repeatedly emphasized that they are the best I have had) and, of course, big thanks to all Partizan fans!
Thank you for the unreserved support, respect and love you have given me all these years at every opportunity!
