In Zenica, a work meeting was held at the initiative of the Trial International organization, dedicated to the consideration of the current degree of implementation of the Law on the Protection of Civil Victims in the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
In addition to the representatives of Trial International, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Health of Zenica-Doboj Canton dr. Aida Salčinović, representatives of the Public Institution Center for Social Work Zenica, and representatives of the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy and Refugees, led by Minister Antonio Šimunović.
The aim of the meeting was to identify the most important challenges in the implementation of the said law at the cantonal level, and define concrete steps towards its full and effective implementation, with the strengthening of institutional support to civilian victims of war.
Minister Simunovic reminded that the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy and Refugees was another 2024. year harmonized the Cantonal Law with Federal Regulations and regulated rights within its competence. He added that most of the remaining rights are under the jurisdiction of other cantonal ministries, and emphasized that today’s meeting is an important step towards strengthening intermediate cooperation in order to complete the application of this law.
In the trail of that, the Health Minister dr. Aida Salčinović expressed readiness that, through the adoption of necessary legal and bylaws within the competence of health department, contribute to the elimination of administrative and systemic obstacles that slow down its implementation.
Representatives of Trial International praised Zenica-Doboj Canton, especially emphasizing the engagement of the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy as an example of good practice in the Federation of BiH when it comes to the implementation of the Law on the Protection of Civil Victims of War.
