The spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that Western countries are planning to destabilize the internal situation in Serbia, using mechanisms inspired by “color revolutions” and exerting pressure on the legitimate authorities.

“We are considering what is happening in Serbia in the context of the West’s plans to destabilize the situation in the country. They are trying to push its leadership to the limit where it will have to choose: to continue its policy in favor of its people or to turn to the path of agreement,” the statement said. published on the website of the diplomatic department.

Zaharova added that the temporary authorities in Pristina, with the support of the USA and the EU, are creating unbearable conditions for the Serbian population in Kosovo, trying to expel them, while preventing the “Serbian List” from participating in the elections, reports Novosti.rs.

“Another egregious case is the attempt to prevent the largest party of the Serbs in the province, Srpska lista, from participating in the elections for the Kosovo ‘parliament’, and the party has long been the target of heinous baseless attacks by the Albanian ultra-nationalist ‘prime minister’ of Kosovo Albin Kurti and his accomplices” Zaharova assessed.

She assessed that the task was to weaken “Srpska lista” and then completely remove it from the political scene.

“Judging by some information, Kurti is planning new inter-ethnic incidents during the New Year and Christmas holidays, for which the responsibility was publicly laid in advance on the Serbian party and the Orthodox community in the province,” Zaharova stated.

She added that these actions are a gross violation of the basic rights and freedoms of citizens and represent the threat of a sharp escalation of the situation with the most terrible consequences in the region.

“Western capitals still have the ability to influence their wards in Pristina and prevent political reprisals against representatives of the Serbian community. We strongly support friendly Serbia and the fraternal Serbian people of the sovereign state,” Zaharova said.
