Olympic medal winners Dino Rađa, Vladimir Grbić, Martin Sinković and Paola Magoni, as well as trophy decathlete Mihail Dudaš, are coming to Sarajevo for Sarajevo Olympic Week.
As part of the festival, top athletes and representatives of the Olympic movement will participate in the program “Olympic stories with…”, through which they will talk to young people in the Olympic Museum about their sports and life paths, the importance of work, discipline, perseverance and dedication. The talks will begin today at 11:00 a.m. with a meeting with Martin Sinković, and will continue on Monday, February 9, with talks with Mihail Dudaš at 12:30 p.m. and Vladimir Grbić at 2:00 p.m., while the cycle will conclude on Tuesday, February 10, at 10:30 a.m. with a conversation with Dino Rado.
– Education of young people through sports and personal stories of top athletes is one of the key missions of Sarajevo Olympic Week. Meetings with people who won Olympic medals and built careers based on work, discipline and clear values can be a strong inspiration and motivation for young people, not only in sports but also in life – said the president of the Sarajevo Olympic Week Organizing Committee, Din Pehlivanović.
Dino Rađa, one of the most important basketball players on the European scene, won two Olympic silver medals, with the Yugoslav national team in Seoul in 1988 and with the Croatian national team in Barcelona in 1992. Vladimir Grbić, a member of the Volleyball Hall of Fame and at one time the best volleyball player in the world, won a bronze medal with the Yugoslav national team in Atlanta in 1996, while he won the Olympic gold medal at the Sydney Games in 2000. Martin Sinković is one of the most trophy rowers of today. He won Olympic silver in London 2012, followed by gold in Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. The arrival of Paola Magoni, winner of the Olympic gold medal in alpine skiing at the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984, attracts special attention, and today she is recognized as a prominent sports official and an active promoter of Olympic values.
Mihail Dudaš, one of the most successful decathletes in the region, won a bronze medal at the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich and is a multiple finalist in major international competitions.
Sarajevo Olympic Week 2026 is realized with the support of the City of Sarajevo, the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Municipality of Centar, the Municipality of Stari Grad, the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, international diplomatic partners, as well as numerous domestic and international organizations and sponsors who recognize the importance of preserving and developing Sarajevo’s Olympic heritage.
