In Bosnia and Herzegovina, workers in the IT sector have the highest incomes, with an average net salary of 2,399 KM (about 1,227 euros), which is more than double compared to workers in the hospitality industry, whose average income is 1,157 KM (about 592 euros), according to data from the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
When it comes to the level of income by sector, the differences in Bosnia and Herzegovina are still very pronounced. The data reveal a significant gap between occupations, with the three highest-paid areas clearly standing out – the IT sector, finance and public administration.
Ore and stone
According to the data of the BiH Statistics Agency, the average net salary in April this year was 1,684 KM (about 861 euros), while in the same period last year it was 1,545 KM (about 790 euros).
Employees in finance and insurance are also well above the national average, with an average income of 2,196 KM (about 1,123 euros), as well as workers in public administration whose average salary reached 2,119 KM (about 1,084 euros).
The fourth sector with an average salary of more than 2,000 KM is the production and supply of electricity, where workers received an average of 2,067 KM (about 1,057 euros).
Somewhat lower, but still high incomes were achieved in professional, scientific and technical activities, with an average salary of 1,992 KM, as well as in the mining and stone sector, where the average salary is 1,861 KM.
Education workers in April received an average salary of 1,676 KM, which is just below the national average.
In the middle of the list are agriculture, forestry and fishing with an average salary of 1,476 KM, transport and storage with 1,470 KM, and administrative and auxiliary service activities with 1,469 KM.
Bottom of list
On the other hand, workers in some of the most important economic branches have significantly lower incomes. The average April salary in the processing industry was 1,399 KM, while employees in wholesale and retail trade earned an average of 1,383 KM.
The difficult situation on the labor market is also illustrated by the construction industry with an average salary of 1,307 KM, while at the very bottom of the list are workers in the hospitality industry, i.e. in the activities of providing accommodation and food preparation, whose average salary was only 1,157 KM.
