The police in Vienna exposed a shocking series of fires that paralyzed several city municipalities – three girls who voluntarily surrendered and confessed their crimes are behind the arson.
Two 18-year-old girls and one 17-year-old girl are suspected of starting fires in November, claiming that they did it out of boredom.
Two of them were arrested in Hernals, while the third went to the police on her own the same day. All three pleaded guilty in the investigations, and police spokesperson Julia Schik stated that 18 cases of arson, with damage in the six-figure amount, were solved through criminal work.
According to the police, the girls mostly started small fires, such as burning containers, but their actions caused fear and panic among the local population. The case is still under investigation, while all three girls are in custody.
