Up to 800 jobs are at risk in Tešanj

– In Tešnje, there is talk of 700-800 jobs that are directly threatened. When we try to calculate it at the level of the Federation, it is certainly tens of thousands of jobs that are affected by this regulation – said Nedžad Polić, representative of the Jelah Tešanj Association of Businessmen.

He said this at the meeting held today in Zenica, and on the occasion of the FBiH Government’s decision to increase the minimum net salary to one thousand KM.

In addition to businessmen, the opinion of craftsmen is that the FBiH Government should have increased workers’ incomes in another way.

– The government cannot talk about the lowest salary, it can talk about the lowest hourly wage. The salary cannot be the same for both 176 hours and 200 hours. The hourly wage is the foundation and the Government can set it as the lowest – points out Sejid Brka, president of the ZDK Chamber of Crafts.

Even the announced subsidies for trades from the Government of the Federation for businessmen in this canton are not an adequate solution.

– We don’t need subsidies. We need working conditions where we can work, earn and pay our workers the way they deserve. Therefore, any subsidies, any help to workers – they are unacceptable for us – says Senaida Turkić, president of the Zenica Employers’ Association, Federal Television reported.

Businessmen called on the Government of the Federation to amend the decision on the minimum wage in such a way that the taxable part of the minimum wage remains at the level it was in 2024, and that the amount above that is non-taxable and that this amount is not counted in the basis for calculating the average wage in the Federation.

– And with a note that this taxable part should be the basis for further calculations when it comes to collective agreements because it will also have a chain reaction on salaries in the public sector, which is not discussed in the context of this decision – Polić added.

The president of the ZDK Chamber of Commerce, Diana Babić, notes that ZDK businessmen are generally in favor of increasing the minimum wage for workers, but with the mandatory adoption of a set of reform measures, in order to relieve the economic sector: “So, it is necessary to create assumptions based on which we could pay higher wages to workers”.

If the Government does not respond to their request, they are asking the Parliament of the Federation to pass an appropriate act that will invalidate the Decision on the minimum wage, Federal Television reported.
