Ukraine and Russia exchanged 185 soldiers each in the latest prisoner-of-war exchange on Friday, officials from both countries said.

Most of the returned Ukrainians had been in Russian captivity since 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on the social media platform X.

Russia also returned one civilian, he added.

The oldest returned Ukrainian is 62 years old, the Ukrainian General Staff announced.

Today’s exchange is the second within the agreement between the countries on the exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war, as part of a three-day ceasefire agreement reached with American mediation in early May.

The United Arab Emirates, which mediated previous rounds of exchanges, took part in Friday’s exchange, the Russian Defense Ministry said on the Telegram messaging app, AFP reports.
