The United States has announced that Ukraine has agreed to an agreement to end the war with Russia, noting that only “minor details” remain, although Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said “more work is needed,” reports CNN.
Speaking as the US Secretary of the Army was in Abu Dhabi for meetings with Russian officials about a proposal from President Donald Trump’s administration, the US official said that “the Ukrainians have agreed to a peace agreement. There are a few minor details that need to be worked out, but they have agreed to a peace agreement”.

The statement of the American side went further than the previous public positions of Ukrainian officials, whose delegation is also in Abu Dhabi and who are in contact with the US Secretary of the Army, Dan Driscoll.
In a post on Platform X, Ukrainian National Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov wrote that the delegations “reached a common understanding on the key terms of the agreement discussed in Geneva.”
– Now we are counting on the support of our European partners in further steps, added Umerov. He also wrote that Ukraine is looking forward to organizing President Zelensky’s visit to the USA in order to “complete the final steps and reach an agreement with President (Donald) Trump.”
Earlier this morning, Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post on X: “After the meetings in Geneva, we see many prospects that can make the path to peace real. There are solid results, but a lot of work is still ahead of us.”
The US military also expressed optimism. Lt. Col. Jeff Tolbert, Driscoll’s spokesman, said “talks between the US and Russian delegations in Abu Dhabi are progressing well and we remain optimistic.”
