The private plane that was supposed to take over the legend of St. Louis Cardinals’ Yadier Molina in Texas crashed just minutes after takeoff from the Dominican Republic, killing the pilot and co-pilot.
It is an American business jet Gulfstream G200 Galaxy that took off from the airport in La Romana towards Austin, but the crew soon reported technical problems and tried to return the aircraft to the airport urgently.
According to the authorities, the plane crashed in a powerful fiery explosion shortly after takeoff. There were only two crew members in the aircraft, and no passengers were registered.
The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation said the plane lost stability while trying to return to the airport after a state of emergency was declared.
A large fire broke out at the scene of the accident, and footage shows thick smoke and a completely burnt aircraft on the runway.

Yadier Molina took to social media, expressing his condolences to the families of the victims and stating that the plane was on its way to pick him and his family up.
He pointed out that the tragedy is particularly poignant because the pilot and co-pilot lost their lives while making the flight that was organized for his trip.
The authorities of the Dominican Republic launched an investigation with the help of the competent services to determine the cause of the fall and the technical failure that preceded the accident.
