U.S. President Donald Trump should meet next week with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa in New York, according to the media.
Preparations for the Trump and Al-Shara, who met in Riyadh, are in the final phase for the first time, and the second meeting is planned in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to reports, Al-Sharaa is also invited to the reception that traditionally organizes the current American president.
Syrian president will be the first leader of that country addressing the UN General Assembly after several decades.
On the eve of the expected meeting, the Chief Syrian diplomat stayed in Washington this week, where he met with senior American officials and leading members of the Congress.
The talks focused on the possible abolition of sanctions towards Syria introduced under the Caesar Act law, which was passed with the aim of punishing the former Syrian leader of Bashar Al-Asada.
