The Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton reminds the public that recently we have witnessed several cases of vandalism and destruction of public property in Tuzla. Thus, on the night from Saturday to Sunday in Tuzla, a group of minors damaged benches, cars and other objects, which caused material damage and damaged public and private property.
˝The competent police officers reacted quickly, the minors were identified, and further procedural actions are underway.
Such behavior is not only socially unacceptable – it is also punishable by law. The Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina stipulates the responsibility of minors for various forms of property and other criminal offenses, and the courts can impose adequate measures and even a juvenile prison sentence in more serious cases.
One of the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton is certainly cases of juvenile delinquency, as well as cases in which minors have been harmed by criminal acts.
In the first nine months of this year alone, 52 reports were received in which minors were perpetrators of criminal acts, while 45 such cases were processed in the same period.
At the same time, 87 cases in which minors were harmed were received, and 91 cases in which minors were harmed were resolved in the same reporting period.
We invite parents and guardians to constantly pay attention to children’s behavior – it is their responsibility, but also a legal obligation. Prevention starts in the family: conversation, supervision and timely reaction can prevent serious consequences for children and for society as a whole.
Destruction of public property is not a “child’s joke”, it is an act that harms the entire community.
Together, we can make our cities safer and more dignified places to live,” announced the TK Prosecutor’s Office.
