Former Chelsea and PSG footballer Thiago Silva, 41, has terminated his contract with Fluminense, the club where he started his football career and returned to in July 2024.
Former captain Seleçaofor which he played 113 gameshad a contract with Fluminense until June next year, but, local media speculate, he wants to return to Europe.
Thiago Silva, who returned to the club last year as world football legendhe left behind a legacy of loyalty and love for Fluminenseaccording to the club’s press release, which also states that Silva terminated his contract on Tuesday.
Thiago Silva started his career as a junior at Fluminense in 1998, and returned in the summer of 2024, signing a two-year contract after leaving Chelsea, where he played more than 150 games, won the Champions League, the club world title and the European Super Cup. Considered one of the best defenders of his generation, Silva played for both Milan (2009-2012) and PSG (2012-2020). He has now played 25 games for Fluminense and scored two goals.
It’s a club currently fifth in the Brazilian championship and since his arrival he has not won a single title. At the World Club Championship in the USA, he was stopped in the semi-finals by Chelsea.
With the Brazilian national team, Thiago Silva participated in four world championships: in South Africa in 2010, in Brazil in 2014, in Russia in 2018 and in Qatar in 2022.
