The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton adopted the Decision on determining the amount and method of payment of scholarships for the academic year 2025/2026. year, according to which 1,311 students will be entitled to a scholarship, while the most successful students in deficit professions will also receive an additional monetary award.
At the 135th session of the ZDK Government, which was presided over by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, it was decided that the scholarships will be paid once in the amount of 1,050 KM.
After the competition, a total of 1,311 students were entitled to a scholarship, and in addition, 101 students who are studying deficit occupations and have an average grade of at least 8.3 or the equivalent were entitled to a monetary award in the same amount.
Prime Minister Nezir Pivić pointed out that about 1.5 million KM has been set aside for this purpose from the Zenica-Doboj Canton Budget, and that, together with additional awards, a total of 1,412 scholarships will be paid out in this academic year.
In addition to scholarships awarded through the Ministry of Education, the Government of ZDK continues to support students from families of veterans through the department of the Ministry of Veteran Affairs.
For the academic year 2025/2026. last year, 1,331 full-time and full-time self-financing students of the first and second cycle of studies at universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad were entitled to this type of scholarship. The amount of the scholarship is 1,100 KM for freshmen, while students of the second and higher years of study are entitled to 1,500 KM.
At today’s session, the Government, on the proposal of the Ministry of Veteran Affairs, also adopted 13 conclusions which approved funds for housing care for members of the veteran population in the total amount of 214,456.50 KM.
In addition, a decision was made to increase funds for the procurement of equipment for the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection. The amount planned for this purpose has been increased from 100,000 KM to 250,000 KM, which will improve the capacities of this service to respond to emergency situations.
