The Zenica-Doboj Canton delegation, which included Prime Minister Nezir Pivić, Speaker of the Assembly Ćazim Huskić, Deputy Speaker of the ZDK Assembly Goran Bulajić, ZDK Health Minister Aida Salčinović, Acting Director of the ZDK Health Insurance Institute Ahmed Kasap and Director of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital Tarik Zulović visited the General Hospital in Tešnje today. During the visit, they visited several departments, spoke with employees and patients, and held a working meeting with the director of the hospital, Omer Bedak, and the head of the Municipality of Tešanj, Suad Huskić.
– For us, this visit to Tešnje is extremely important. I’m glad we can talk about health issues. We want things that do not have enough space or capacity to be solved within the Cantonal Hospital, to be solved in Tešanj. There is good cooperation that will expand in the future – said Prime Minister ZDK Nezir Pivić.
Pivić added that the previous support of the ZDK Health Insurance Institute towards Tešanj General Hospital was not at the expected level, and that he hopes that today’s visit will be a turning point.
– Today we are sending a clear message that the General Hospital really has the support of the Government and all relevant institutions that deal with healthcare – stressed Prime Minister Pivić.
Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Goran Bulajić said that today’s visit will contribute to the improvement of the health system in the canton and that he expresses his satisfaction that the political climate is such that they can work together to further improve the health system.
The head of Tešanj Municipality, Suad Huskić, explained that the topic of the visit was health care in the area of ”our municipality”.
– The hospital has developed in recent years, and last year it ended in the red. This year we are working on stabilization. Thanks to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health and the director of the Institute, today we are convinced of the quality of the hospital’s work and we are discussing the steps necessary for its further development, stable operations, staffing, equipment procurement and overall development – said Chief Huskić.
The Minister of Health, Aida Salčinović, said that she was delighted with what she saw at Tešnje General Hospital, but that there is always room for improvement, and that health services for patients and citizens should be further improved.
– As soon as I assumed my position, I immediately called the director of the hospital in Tešanj. We have already adopted measures that we will present at the meeting. We have decided to increase funds and in 2025 we are planning additional support for the provision of certain services – said acting director of the ZDK Health Insurance Institute Ahmed Kasap.
Director of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, Tarik Zulović, announced more intensive cooperation between the two hospitals in order to provide patients with better health care.
The director of the General Hospital in Tešnje, Omer Bedak, thanked for the visit and emphasized that cooperation plans have already been made with the Institute, the line ministry and the Zenica Cantonal Hospital.
– All future steps will be in the interest of patients, so that health care is available in Tešanj, without the need for patients to travel to Zenica – said the director of the Tešanj General Hospital, Omer Bedak.
