The UFC spectacle “White House South Lawn UFC event – Freedom 250 was held on Sunday in front of the White House.
As part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the USA and the 80th birthday of President Donald Trump, a UFC spectacle was held on the South Lawn in front of the White House.
The first professional sports event ever held at the presidential residence, was threatened by thunderstorms for most of the day, but went ahead despite initial delays. For that occasion, a 27-meter-high and 600-ton steel structure named “The Claw” was built.
The martial arts spectacle he is on 14 fighters performed in seven fights from lightweight to heavyweight, was opened by US President Donald Trump who walked from the White House to the arena along with UFC CEO Dan White. Military aircraft then flew over the White House.

About four hours after this card started, in the main fight of the night Justin Gaethje defeated Ilija Topuri for the lightweight belt.
It was a spectacle strictly controlledand the temporary arena received approximately 4,500 guests. Screens were set up in the nearby Elipse, and more than 80,000 fans gathered.

UFC he had never organized before fully open event in its 33-year history. The previous attempt at an outdoor event, in Abu Dhabi in 2010, was held in at least a partially covered venue. This one had no roof at all.
It is estimated that the entire event will cost more than 60 million dollars. The UFC covers production costs, which include building the Octagon, paying the fighters and setting aside $700,000 to replace the turf after the event. The federal government provides security and medical services, and no taxpayer funds were used for the event itself.
The whole event, supposedly, was the idea of President Trump himselfand a few days before the event itself, a legal question arose as to whether a luxurious UFC ring may be erected in front of the White House. Lawyers for the nonprofit Public Integrity Project filed the lawsuit on behalf of activists and Vietnam War veterans, and the two plaintiffs also asked the court to prevent organizers from building anything for the event on the White House grounds.
A judge has ruled that Trump can host UFC fights on the South Lawn of the White House this weekend. However, District Judge Amit Mehta rejected the legal group’s request to bar the organizers from using the White House lawn.
Mehta concluded that plaintiffs have no legal right to dispute the event and failed to prove that they would have suffered irreparable harm if the event had proceeded as planned. The judge also cited the plaintiffs’ “unreasonable delay” in filing a lawsuit challenging the event, which has been in the works for months.
The White House called the lawsuit baseless attempt to prevent Trump to host an event not unlike many others routinely held in public spaces in the nation’s capital.
In 2019, during his first term, Trump became the first sitting president to attend a UFC event. Trump, a Republican, is a friend of UFC president and CEO Dana White who has spoken at multiple Republican National Conventions.
