The US military said it attacked a ship allegedly involved in drug smuggling operations in the eastern Pacific, killing one person.
“One male narco-terrorist was killed during this action and two survived,” US Platform X Command said.
The US Coast Guard was called to assist in the rescue operation.
For now, it is not clear if the survivors were pulled from the sea.
According to intelligence, the ship was traveling along a known drug-smuggling route in the Pacific, the US military said.
US President Donald Trump’s administration has been targeting ships in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific since September, saying the operations are aimed at cracking down on international drug trafficking.
