The trade sector in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2025 achieved 36.74 billion KM in revenue, which is 84 percent more than in 2016, according to the analysis of business made by the Financial and Information Agency, FIA.
The analysis was presented in Sarajevo, and the presentation was attended by Federal Trade Minister Amir Hasičević and FIA Director Faruk Hadžić.
According to data from the analysis, 89,191 workers are employed in the trade sector, which represents 24.2 percent of the total number of employees in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The total net profit of the sector was 1.79 billion KM.
It was pointed out that wholesale generates more than half of the total revenues in trade, while exports make up only 2.6 percent of total revenues. Such data, as stated, indicate significant room for growth and strengthening of the competitiveness of this sector.
Federal Minister of Trade Amir Hasičević said that he expects to improve cooperation with the FIA, especially considering that the Ministry is in the process of digitization.
According to him, such reports are very important because they facilitate the monitoring of the implementation of certain laws and give a clearer picture of the situation in the trade sector.
Hasičević added that the Federal Ministry of Trade, based on the analysis done by the FIA, will prepare an overview of the entire sector, together with the legal and by-laws that regulate it.
He also announced discussions with the FIA management on cooperation on the establishment of registers, especially when it comes to the law on online shopping, which is currently in the preliminary draft stage.
FIA Director Faruk Hadžić stated that the Agency has the most comprehensive data for the Federation of BiH from the financial reports of business entities, which they submit every year.
Hadžić announced the possibility of cooperation with the line ministry on the maintenance of existing and future platforms, so that competent institutions would have as complete a picture as possible of the situation in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The trade sector, according to the presented data, remains one of the most significant parts of the economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, both in terms of total revenues and the number of employees, writes RTV Slon.
