The Swiss government announced on Monday that it had adopted the latest package of European Union sanctions against Russia and Belarus.

The decision came a week after the EU imposed sanctions on Russian ships and Chinese entities that traded with the Russian military.

The Swiss government has put 54 people and 30 companies and organizations on a sanctioned list, and will freeze their assets starting on December 24. Also, 52 ships have been banned from providing services, according to Reuters.

– These are mostly tankers that are part of the Russian ‘shadow fleet’ and that bypass the price limit on Russian oil and oil products or transport military goods for Russia or stolen grain from Ukraine – the Swiss government said in a statement.

Persons under sanctions will not be able to enter Switzerland.
