The current Olympic winners and world champions, the handball players of Denmark secured a place in the semi-finals of the European Championship after defeating Germany 31-26 in the 3rd round of Group I, second round of the European Championship in Herning.

Denmark’s dream scenario called for Norway and Portugal to draw and for Spain to take points from the French. In the end, both became a reality. Norway and Portugal played 35-35, while Spain beat France with 36-32.
The Danes then needed a win against Germany to secure one of the top two positions. In the end, they won 31-26.

Denmark and Germany have six points each, while France on four points. In case the teams finish with the same number of points, the second criterion is a mutual test, and Denmark got both the Germans and the French.
Germany held on well in the first part, but in the continuation of the match, the Olympic and world champions kicked into high gear, took the lead by seven points (23-16) and calmly brought the match to an end.
Simon Pytlick and Mathias Gidsel led the Danes to victory with eight goals each, while the great Emil Nielsen had 14 saves. On the opposite side, the most effective were Renars Uščins with six goals and Julian Koster and Marko Grgić with four goals each. David Spath collected nine saves.
In the last round, on January 28, Spain – Portugal, Germany – France and Denmark – Norway will meet.
