The river Spreča near Gračanica overflowed and flooded more than 15 hectares of the fertile Sprečko polje

After the sudden melting of deep snow, in the area of ​​Sanski Most and Tuzla Canton, i.e. in the upper part of the Sana and Sanica rivers and the lower part of the Spreča river, the water level rose on Tuesday and Wednesday, so the Agency for the Water Region of the Sava River issued a notice of undertaking measures to protect people and material goods, and prohibiting access to the coastal area of ​​the mentioned rivers for security reasons.

Yesterday, the situation was better, as far as the rivers Sana and Sanica are concerned. Almir Prljača, head of the Water Management Sector of the Sava Water Area Agency, told “Dnevni avaz” that the level of the rivers Sana and Sanica is slightly decreasing, while the level of Spreča at the measuring point Karanovac near Gračanica is constant.

– The Spreča level was 319 centimeters yesterday at the Karanovac measuring point, but considering that the discharge of water from Lake Modrac into the Spreča River has increased by 16 cubic meters per second since Wednesday and now flows 46.85 meters per second, this will require that the floods downstream from Lukavac in the municipalities of Gračanica, Petrovo and Doboj Istok will be far greater than the 15 hectares that were flooded yesterday in the area Gračanica – says Mustafa Bajić, head of the CZ Service of the city of Gračanica.

By the way, the level of the hydroaccumulation of Lake Modrac near Lukavac today is 199.87 meters above sea level and there is 31 centimeters left to overflow.

If that happens, the amount of water that would be discharged into the river Spreča could not be controlled.
