Nature protection network in Bosnia and Herzegovina begins researching the biological diversity of the Rijeka Krivaja in the area of Zavidović and lead. Within the scientific research camp, which will be located in the Basic Service of Rescue Zavidovići in the settlement of Dištica, from 17. to 21. September 2025. years, dozens of experts from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina will participate in the study of this unique river ecosystem.
The purpose of the research is to provide relevant and reliable information on the biological diversity of the Rijeka Krivaja, which will serve as a basis for permanent protection and sustainable management of this valuable natural area, which is provided for protection in the National Park Rande. In addition to the scientific research aspect, the implementation of the camp on curves provides strong support to the sustainable development and affirmation of Zavidović and lead as cities with pronounced care for the preservation of natural values. We remind you, Krivaja is one of the few remaining freeflies rivers, without built dams.
The special importance of research is reflected in the fact that the Krivaja River could be jeopardized by the planned opening of the chromium mine on its tribies, tribia and the deepest. The project of geological research in Duboštica was currently stopped after the intervention of cantonal and federal inspections, which determined that the papers on the piercing access roads are performed on forest state land. Such procedures directly violate the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, as well as the interim measures of the High Representative who are prohibited by state property.
The Nature Protection Network in BiH believes that the ecological value of the Rijeka Krivaja multiplies the value of the planned mining project in its basin. For residents in its valley, Krivaja is not only a natural resource, but inextricable part of identity and pride, deeply rooted in life and legacy of the local community. Her protection means preserving health, life and dignity of people who live with it, and at the same time represents the issue of public interest that requires an urgent and responsible reaction of the competent institutions.
