Real Madrid has confirmed the transfer of Spanish left back Marco Cucurella from Chelsea, with whom he has signed a contract for six seasons, until June 30, 2032.
– Real Madrid and Chelsea reached an agreement on the transfer of Marco Cucurella, who will be tied to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032 – the Madrid club announced.
The transfer was also confirmed by Chelsea, stating that Cucurella has made a permanent move to Real Madrid, writes The Guardian.
“Everyone at Chelsea FC thanks Marc for his efforts during his time at the club and for the role he has played in our recent successes,” the London club said in a statement.
Financial details have not been officially published, but British media report that the deal is worth up to 60 million euros, i.e. 55 million euros fixed with an additional five million through bonuses.
Cucurella returns to Spain after four years at Chelsea, which he joined in 2022 from Brighton.
After a difficult start at Stamford Bridge, he managed to establish himself as an important player for the London club and the Spanish national team.
The 27-year-old defender is currently with the Spanish national team at the World Cup, where he is preparing for the game against Cape Verde.
With this transfer, Real Madrid continues the reconstruction of the team after two seasons without a trophy, and Cucurella should further strengthen the competition on the left side of the defense.
