The meetings marked a significant shift in regional ties following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad this month.
Arab diplomats expressed support for the Syrian people and discussed future cooperation with the host, in the latest high-profile visits since the ouster of Bashar al-Assad.
Sharaa, whose Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) led the offensive that ousted Assad on December 8, has welcomed envoys from the Middle East and beyond in recent days, including Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Sunday.
Visiting Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi expressed his country’s support for Syria’s reconstruction in a meeting with Shara on Monday, the first visit to Syria by a senior Jordanian official since Assad was ousted.
Photos released by the foreign ministry showed the two men shaking hands, while Jordan’s official Al-Mamlaka TV reported that Safadi discussed opportunities for cooperation, including in the fields of trade, border management, aid and electrification links, along with security, reports AFP.
