The Hague International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an order for the arrest of two leaders of Taliban in Afghanistan, reuters transferred today.
As stated, these are the supreme spiritual leader of the Akunjada Hibatula and Abdul Hakim Hanaka, in charge of the judiciary.
The two of them are charged with the persecution of women and girls.
The International Criminal Court announced that there is a reasonable basis to believe that acundžada and hakani committed crimes against humanity by persecuting, due to gender belonging, girls and other people who did not comply with politics of gender, gender identity and expression.
The Chamber states that these works were committed from 15. Augusta 2021, when the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, until at least 20. January 2025, represented broad and systematic violations of basic rights and freedoms.
According to the ICC, Taliban leadership conducted policies that seriously denied the basic rights of women and girls, including access to education, freedom of movement, expression, privacy, family life, opinions, conscience and faith.
The Council concluded that the persecution was not only referred to direct violence, but also on institutionalized forms of damage and discriminatory social norms.
“Gender-based persecution includes not only direct acts of violence, but also systematic and institutionalized forms of damage,” said in a statement.
It is also stated that people who just passively opposed Taliban policies were targeted and that crimes were part of the official state policy.
The arrest orders were originally released under the Seal on 31. January 2024, but the Council now decided to publicly publish their existence to prevent further commission of these crimes and in the interest of justice.
