Hapoel was leading 64-37 in the 23rd minute and it seemed that Partizan was headed for another scoring disaster. However, the exact opposite happened. In the last two minutes of the regular part, the Belgrade team recovered by nine points (78-87), allowing Hapoel only one point.
They reached 88-88 with three-pointers by former Zadar player Arijan Lakić and Vanja Marinković, and then they managed to defend themselves and win overtime, in which Marinković was not injured, and for the most part neither was the suspended head coach Joan Penaroya.
In the last 47 seconds of overtime, Partizan entered with +7 (97-90) after a three-pointer by Brown Sterling, and Hapoel eventually attempted a three-pointer for a new overtime, but Antonio Blakeney missed.
Cameron Payne was Partizan’s best scorer with 19 points, Lakić scored 15 points, and Bruno Fernando scored 14. Dan Otura scored 24 points for Dimitris Itoudis’ team, and Vasilije Micić had 19 points and nine assists.
Despite the defeat, Hapoel remained on top with 16-7, but Fenerbahçe has the same performance. Real Madrid and Barcelona have more losses (16-8).
