The German Cup final will remain at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium until at least 2030 after an extension agreement was reached with provincial authorities, the German Football Association (DFB) said on Thursday.

An extension to the existing arrangement was expected, but the DFB requested an upgrade to the entrance gates at the 74,475-seat stadium, which was originally built for the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
Currently, there are only two entrance gates to the stadium, which often led to delays, especially during cup finals.
In the 2025 German Cup final between Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld, some fans of both sides had to wait for 90 minutes.
German tabloid Bild reported that DFB chiefs feared an escalation between fans and security staff.
Berlin authorities have promised to improve infrastructure at the stadium, including expanding the southern entrance to facilitate access for fans and reduce waiting times, it said in a statement.
DFB president Bernd Neuendorf said that holding the final in Berlin is an integral part of German football and a highlight for fans and clubs.
Prior to 1985, the final was held at various locations in West German cities, including Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hanover and Düsseldorf.
This season’s final will take place on May 23.
