The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, signed agreements on cooperation with six sports federations of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, which will create better conditions for improving the development of domestic sports, as well as the establishment of a sports unit in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The agreements with the BiH MoD were signed by the President of the BiH Swimming Association Edhem Pašukan, the President of the BiH Boxing Association Predrag Bartula, the President of the BiH Shooting Association Sakib Plančić, the Vice President of the BiH Athletic Association Zoran Vukšić, the Secretary General of the BiH Judo Association Arijana Jaha and the Vice President of the Triathlon and Pentathlon Association of BiH Zečir Karup.
The agreements will enable top athletes under these alliances to become members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby gaining better material opportunities and training conditions for an easier continuation of their professional sports career. Since the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a member of the International Military Sports Committee (CISM) since 2007, in whose activities 133 countries participate in about thirty sports, top athletes from our country, who would become members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, would also compete in sports activities organized by the CISM, in addition to regular sports competitions outside the armed forces. Through joint cooperation, we will work on the organization of competitions, the education of athletes and the promotion of sports and physical fitness in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I am glad that with the joint efforts of our professionals from the MoD and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and hardworking people from the sports federations, we managed to sign these first agreements. Athletes and soldiers share the same values, and with this we help each other to further develop more successfully, both domestic sports and the defense system of our country,” said BiH Minister of Defense Zukan Helez on the occasion.
The signing of the agreement at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina was attended by Assistant Minister of Defense of BiH for Policy and Plans Dženan Redžo, Head of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defense of BiH for Policy and Plans Danijela Bilić, representative of the Olympic Committee of BiH Dejana Planinčić and other associates.
As it was announced on this occasion, in the future it is expected to sign the same agreements with some other sports federations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia Info.
