In the case against the accused Damir Mehić and others, for the criminal offense of Murder from Art. 166 st. 1 CC FBiH and other criminal offenses, the Federal Prosecution sent a proposal to the Supreme Court of FBiH to accept the appeal of the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office against the judgment of the Cantonal Court in Tuzla and to sentence Mehić to a longer term of imprisonment for the crime committed.
Damir Mehić 16.5 years in prison for the murder in 2013
The cantonal court in Tuzla handed down a first-instance verdict to Damir Mehić, known as Bibi, by which he was sentenced to 16 and a half years in prison for the murder of Emir Džinić and the attempted murder of Nailo Hodžić, committed in June 2013.
It is a case that followed a multi-year and complex court process, including the escape of the accused, his arrest and the annulment of the previous verdict.
Mehić was on the run for several years, and was arrested for the first time in 2018 in Jahorina, and again in 2022 at the airport in Belgrade, when trying to enter Serbia with forged documents, writes Fena.
Along with Damir Mehić, his brother Amir Mehić and Amir Lisičić were previously accused in this case, on suspicion of acting as an organized criminal group, and for murder, attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons.
Amir Lisičić was sentenced to 15 years, Amir Mehić to 10 years and nine months, Merced Mehanović to four months, and Denis Rahmanović to 10 months in prison.
The previous verdict from February 2023, by which Mehić was sentenced to 17 years and five months in prison, was canceled in October 2024 by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which ordered a new trial.
