The House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not been in session since April, and judging by current information, there will not be a session until the end of June either. Therefore, the only period when representatives can be expected to work is July.
Almedin Aliefendić, an independent representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PD PFBiH), issued a press release in which he warned of a complete blockade of the work of this legislative body, pointing out that there will be no session even in the month of June.
Aliefendić explains that the reason is formal, because Article 96 of the Rules of Procedure clearly stipulates that the invitation to the session is sent to representatives 14 days before the meeting.
Since that deadline has expired, the session cannot be held, which, according to him, is another proof of the non-functioning of the authorities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The representative recalled information that, according to him, should concern every citizen in FBiH.
“The last regular session of the House of Representatives was held in March. April, May and June passed without a regular session of the highest legislative body of the Federation. For three consecutive months, the institution that is supposed to pass laws, control the government and protect the interests of citizens did not function. This is political paralysis,” Aliefendić said.
He points out that as an independent representative he is not responsible for the crisis, but he has an obligation to tell the truth.
In his opinion, the ruling coalition consisting of the Troika and the HDZ clearly cannot agree on positions on the issues that should be on the agenda.
“Instead of openly discussing it with the public, they choose silence. Whether the election of judges of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a problem or something else is a question for the government. It is additionally worrying that the House of Representatives still does not have a chairman, which directly disrupts business functioning,” adds Aliefendić.
If the July session is not convened due to pre-election tensions and mutual obstructions, Aliefendić believes that this convocation will end in the most shameful way.
August is traditionally spent on annual vacations, while September is reserved for the official election campaign.
Aliefendić publicly asked questions and demanded urgent answers from the leaders of the ruling coalition.
“Why hasn’t the House of Representatives been in session for the last three months and who in the ruling coalition is responsible for that? What are the controversial issues that prevent the formation of the agenda and why are they not being discussed publicly, in front of the citizens? Will the July session be convened and if not, who will take political responsibility for this end of the mandate”, asked Aliefendić, stating Klix.
