The Government of the Federation of BiH in Sarajevo was held by the Prime Minister of BiH Nermin and Federal Minister Toni Kraljević, Deputy Prime Minister, and the Federal Minister of Mijatović, and the Federal Minister Adnan Delić with representatives of both Federation of Pensioners’ Associations in the FBiH, who led Region Mehic and Marinko Jovanovic.
The main topic of the meeting was amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, which prepared the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, as well as the measures of the FBiH Government focused on improving the pensioner’s material position.
Prime Minister Nikšić pointed out that the government will remain dedicated to continuous dialogue and the adoption of legal solutions that will ensure a fairer and sustainable pension system, and whose application should begin on 1st. January next year.
Minister Delic reminded that the government has completed all previously agreed measures in the past period, including three payments of one-time assistance in the total amount to more than 150 million KM, and doubled funds for the Banja’s Pensioners Treatment. He also emphasized that amendments to the PIO laws are in line with the requirements of the pensioners and the introduction of regular pensions according to a more favorable ratio of average salary and consumer price growth, as well as the introduction of higher levels of the lowest pension depending on the service.
According to preliminary estimates, additional 500 million KM will be needed in the FBiH Budget for the next year, with the existing 500 million KM that are allocated to pay pensions.
Representatives of the Covenant of the Pensioners emphasized that amendments to the law come at the time of pronounced inflationary pressures and expressed satisfaction that the issues of this population are re-placed in the focus of the Government and Parliament of the Federation of BiH.
The interlocutors agreed that the Government of FBiH and Pensionerial Associations will continue dialogue and joint work on finding sustainable solutions to improve the material and social position of the pensioners in the Federation of BiH.
