The English Premier League club Newcastle United announced a complaint to the European Football Federation (UEFA) regarding the behavior of the French police towards “Magpie” fans at the Champions League match on Tuesday.
Newcastle United claim that the French police “attacked indiscriminately” several of their fans and used tear gas, batons and shields in the process.
The club announced that it will formally send a complaint to UEFAthe host and the French police for the “unnecessary and disproportionate” force their fans were exposed to.
The club explained how they are their fans kept inside the stadium one hour after the game for their safety, and then groups of 500 people were escorted to the subway to go to the fan meeting place.
