The director of IDDEEA requests that the price of issuing an ID card be reduced due to the decision of the Council of Ministers

The Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange (IDDEEA) Almir Badnjević said that an initiative has been sent to reduce the price of issuing an identity card for Bosnia and Herzegovina. he explained to the citizens why.

The reason for this initiative is the fact that the BiH Council of Ministers did not adopt the Decision that citizens have a free electronic signature on their identity card.

Badnjević called this move scandalous.

“Instead of first adopting all the necessary decisions in 2013, and only then contracting the work of creating an ID card with a chip and associated certificates, they decided to charge citizens the full price of an ID card for years, even though it did not contain all that citizens actually are paid,” says Badnjević.

He points out that citizens have been paying for something they are not getting for 11 years.

“In the previous year, we tried to get this Decision adopted, collected all the positive opinions of the Ministries, however, the Council of Ministers finally made the final decision and did not adopt this Decision. Based on this conclusion of the Council of Ministers, we sent an initiative to the competent Ministry of Civil Affairs to change the Rulebook on ID cards and reduce the price of the ID card for citizens, given that it will no longer contain the above,” explains Badnjević.

He further clarified that citizens have their own free remote electronic signature through IDDEEA.

“We assumed what the outcome would be, so we didn’t want to wait only for this option. It’s been enough waiting since 2006. We wrote about it and informed the public. “Over a million documents in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been signed with a qualified electronic signature,” said Badnjević.

He said that citizens will receive their electronic signature through a “digital wallet” in the middle of next year.

“However, since 2013, citizens have had to have an electronic signature in this way as well, through an identity card. Unfortunately, even after 11 years, they are not allowed, even though it had to be,” concluded Badnjević.

The current price of issuing an identity card in BiH is 18 KM.
