In a statement from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office, it is stated that the withdrawal process of the Israeli army “is conditioned on the deployment of the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon and the full and effective implementation of the agreement, while Hezbollah withdraws from the area south of the Litani River.”
“Since the ceasefire agreement has not yet been fully implemented by the Lebanese state, the gradual withdrawal process will continue, in full coordination with the United States.”
The statement did not specify how long Israeli forces would remain in southern Lebanon, where the Israeli military says it is seizing Hezbollah weapons and dismantling infrastructure used by the Shiite armed group.
