Organized by the congregation Sew, Sew Donje Polje and Sew Gornje Poljethe local communities of Šia and citizens’ associations “Ponikva”on Friday, July 17, 2026, was marked Day of Remembrance of the Martyrs and Civilian Victims of the Shia War.
The program began with Asr prayer, after which the participants visited the cemetery “Buljubasici” near Bor and Bearswhere Yasin and the prayer before the souls of the martyrs were studied.
Then there was a tour of the site at the home of the late Šemsa Omić, the place where six residents of Ši lost their lives due to shelling during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. In that place, the memories of the innocent victims were evoked and the prayer for the martyrs and civilian victims of the war was recited.
The central part of the program was held in the mosque Sew Donje Poljewhere the intercultural program was studied. The chief imam of the Mejlis of the Tešanj Islamic Community addressed those present M.Sc. Fuad-ef. Omerbašić and the chief imam of the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Sarajevo Ph.D. Abdulgafar-ef. The sizewho emphasized the importance of preserving the truth about the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, nurturing the culture of memory and passing on the memories of the martyrs and civilian victims of the war to future generations.
Imams of the Shiite congregations, as well as Senida and Zejneb Balić, participated in the program, while he recited the final prayer M.Sc. hfz. Ammar-ef. Basic.
The commemoration was attended by many citizens, families of martyrs, members of the congregation, representatives of social life and numerous guests.
The organizers point out that the commemoration of Remembrance Day once again confirmed the commitment of the local community to preserve the truth from being forgotten and respectfully cherish the memory of martyrs and civilian victims of war.
