The City of Zagreb did not provide electricity connections, said the spokeswoman of the City of Zagreb, Dinka Živalj, and referred all questions to the organizers.
The Mayor of Zagreb, Tomislav Tomašević, said that the Government is attacking the City by organizing a reception for handball players, violating the Constitution and committing unprecedented institutional violence. Last night, he said that there would be no reception for the national handball players at Ban Josip Jelačić Square on Monday because they could not comply with their request that the singer Marko Perković Thompson must join the agreed performers, writes Index.hr.
The government, however, reached a conclusion at the telephone session on taking over the organization of the reception for handball players in cooperation with the Croatian Handball Association, which will be held at 6 pm on Ban Josip Jelačić Square.
The Government’s statement states that it is an event of “national character and importance”, and not exclusively local, and that the interest of the citizens and the wishes of the handball players were taken into account when making the decision.
Spokesperson for the City of Zagreb, Dinka Živalj, said earlier that any occupation of public space requires the consent of the City and that the Government has not sent such a request to the City.
