Authorities are investigating the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck, which occurred today outside Trump’s hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a possible act of terrorism. At least one person was killed in the explosion. Seven of them were injured.
Las Vegas police said they were investigating a fire at the hotel’s entrance and the public was being warned to avoid the area, although the fire had been extinguished.
According to official information, the driver drove the Cybertrack into the valet area of the hotel, where the explosion occurred. The driver died and is currently the only victim of the incident, while seven passers-by received minor injuries, the authorities announced.

Investigators still don’t know what caused the explosion – a vehicle malfunction or an external factor. Determining the cause of the explosion is key to the investigation.
An official familiar with the investigation told ABC News that the Tesla Cybertruck had pyrotechnic devices on board. Investigators are urgently working to determine the motive and whether the driver intended to cause an explosion and why.
Until the motive is determined and other possibilities are ruled out, the police are treating the explosion as a possible criminal act and an act of terrorism. Evidence collection and investigation are ongoing.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill said he did not believe there was any further threat to the community, but warned the public to remain vigilant. “We believe everything is safe now,” he said, adding, “We don’t know what we don’t know.”
Given the property’s association with President-elect Donald Trump, the hotel is often the target of threats and under increased security.
The hotel also issued a statement saying:
“Earlier today, an electric vehicle fire was reported in the valet area of the Trump Las Vegas hotel. The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remains our top priority. We thank the Las Vegas Fire Department and local authorities for their quick response.”
The head of Tesla, Elon Musk, also spoke.
“The entire senior team at Tesla is currently investigating this case. We will release more information as soon as we learn anything new. We have never seen anything like this,” Musk wrote on Xu.
