Several people were injured in the collision of two city trams in Hanover, the fire service announced.
According to the spokesperson of the firefighters, it is a question of a double-digit number of injured people who were taken care of by the ambulance. The severity of their injuries is not yet known.
The collision occurred around noon in the Allerweg area, and for reasons still unknown, two city trains collided. The operation center declared a state of “massive influx of injured”.
Fire crews quickly went to the field with a large number of vehicles, including a special vehicle that functions as a mobile ambulance and can treat several patients at the same time.
According to reports from the scene of the accident, both trams derailed. One of them hit the station, lifting the concrete slabs. The vehicles show visible damage, including long skid marks and broken windows.
Several ambulances and emergency doctors participated in the intervention, and some of the injured have already been transferred to nearby hospitals, while the others are still being treated on the spot.
The police in Hanover launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and cause of the collision.
