“Creativity is innate in us, but we are losing it to adapt to a system that tries to turn us into machines and force us to perform routine tasks,” Siu said.

But humans can retain that creativity, he added, while machines take over repetitive tasks.

“Optimistically, this means that we can all be free and creative because machines can take over that part of the work, and we can be who we really are – humans,” Siu said.

His company Animoca, co-founded in 2014, today has more than 600 companies in its portfolio, including those in gaming, decentralized finance and real-world assets.

Artificial intelligence “will create a lot more jobs,” Siu asserted, although he noted that there will also be disruption.

“The superpower of artificial intelligence is that it can program anything,” and its programming skills “will eventually surpass human … There is a real commodification of ability and intelligence, which means the key skills will become creativity and coordination,” he said.

“Most people will use AI in a useful way”

Asked about recent warnings, such as that of Anthropic, about the dangers of using artificial intelligence, Siu said he was “on the optimistic side.”

“Most people will use artificial intelligence in a useful way,” he said.

“Of course, there will be individuals who will abuse it and they will need to be stopped, but … to me this does not look like a nuclear arms race.”
