Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani told Italy not yet ready to recognize the State of Palestine after French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris would do so, Ansa said.
– Italy is for a decision of two nations and two countries, but the recognition of the new Palestinian state must occur at the same time with its recognition of the state of Israel – said Tajani at the Meeting of the National Council of his party forza Italia (Fi).
– We are interested in peace, not to win one side over another. We are a country that has received the largest number of refugees from Gaza – he said.
The Minister also reiterated the conviction of Italy due to Israeli attacks on Gaza and the restrictions on the entrance of assistance in the enclave, and re-invited to the end of fire against Hamas.
– We can’t tolerate the massacre and hunger anymore. The time has come for the current ceasefire – said Tajani.
