The Swedish and Hungarian handball teams played to a draw, 32:32, in the last match of the third round of Group II of the European Championship.
Although the Hungarians were left with no chance of reaching the semi-finals, they put up a lot of resistance against the favored hosts, who completely ruined their plans and brought them to the brink of relegation. In the end, they were able to get the full booty, but they were not awarded a penalty, although the referees watched the video and stayed with the original decision by which they awarded the penalty.
The Swedish team was led by Claar with ten goals, while Imre and Rosta were the most effective for Hungary with eight goals each.
In the first match of this round in the group, Iceland and Switzerland drew 38:38, while in the second match Croatia beat Slovenia with 29:25.
After the penultimate round, four national teams from this group have a chance to meet in the semi-finals, which will be decided by the last round scheduled for Wednesday.
Croatia is first in the table with six points, Iceland and Sweden have a point less each, and Slovenia is in fourth place with four points. The last two places are occupied by Hungary and Switzerland with two points each.
In the last round, Iceland – Slovenia (3:30 p.m.), Croatia – Hungary (6:00 p.m.) and Sweden – Switzerland (8:30 p.m.) meet.
